Family apartment
2023
Designed by NM Design Studio, this family apartment is a quiet manifesto of refined, bespoke minimalism — a design concept we define as understated, soulful, and deeply personal.
Created for a family of seven, the apartment was envisioned as a space of balance and calm, nestled in the heart of a vibrant metropolis. It offers a moment of stillness in the flow of everyday life, where each room invites you to slow down and reconnect.
Our approach was rooted in honesty of materials and clarity of form. Natural, eco-conscious finishes in soft, muted tones ground the interior in a sense of warmth and permanence. From the very entrance, the design sets the tone: clean lines, hidden storage, and architectural surfaces create a feeling of quiet order. Nothing shouts —everything flows. Custom veneered panels conceal the functional, allowing the beauty of natural texture and proportion to lead the way.
The layout was thoughtfully crafted to reflect the rhythm of a large, dynamic family. With both teenagers and younger children, the spaces respond to different needs while remaining visually cohesive. In the children’s rooms, soft daylight, gentle palettes, and bespoke furniture designed by NM Design Studio create calm, inspiring environments for learning and rest.
At the center of the home is the living room — a place designed for connection, for shared stories, and the comforting rituals of daily life. It brings everyone together without ever feeling forced.
And as in every NM Design project, art plays an essential role. It is the soul of the space — subtle, expressive, and deeply human. Thoughtfully selected pieces bring texture, movement, and meaning, allowing the interior to speak quietly, yet with undeniable presence.

NM Art & Design designed the home and garden for holiday living. The architecture was created by Belgian architect Gilles Frankignoulle. The barnhouse – style architecture integrates seamlessly with the surrounding landscape.
The house features three bedrooms, a living and dining room, a kitchen, and a large terrace for outdoor living. The terrace includes a barbecue area, a sundeck with an outdoor shower, and a fireplace area.
The simplicity of the barnhouse inspired the design solutions, which include a monochrome colour palette, floor-to – ceiling windows, textured rustic wooden floors, natural linen textiles by De Le Cuona, iconic furniture designs, and an array of contemporary art pieces.
Outdoor living areas were carefully planned with sunlight and shading in mind. The fireplace, facing west to capture sunsets, doubles as an outdoor cinema. The large private terrace is accessible from every bedroom.
